Statement of faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God.We believe that both the Old Testament and the New Testament, though physically written by man, are the inspired Word of God, which was given to man that we might know Him, and His love for us. God's Word is the constant by which we live. Therefore Vista Christian Ministries encourages every believer to read and study the Bible for himself and not to take any man's interpretation, regardless of his position, as infallible. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe in one God revealed in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the sovereign creator of all things. He is the ultimate authority and is both loving and just. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. We believe that His love was so great toward us that while we were yet sinners, He demonstrated His love by sending Christ to die and pay the price for our sins. (Romans 5:8).

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, conceived by the Holy Spirit. That He is fully God, yet fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teaching, His substitutionary, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth. (John 1:1-2, 1:14, Romans 8:34)

We believe the Holy Spirit is still active in the lives of the believer today, both male and female. While we embrace the charismatic gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit when practiced scripturally and orderly, we reject unscriptural and disorderly conduct within the service. We believe that signs should follow believers, not that believers should follow signs. We recognize the fruits of the Spirit, rather than signs and wonders, as confirmation that the believer has been filled or baptized in the Spirit. We further rely on the Holy Spirit as our counselor, to bring to our remembrance His Word, and to guide us into all truth. At Vista Christian Ministries the believer is encouraged to make himself available to be used by the Holy Spirit, as the Holy Spirit leads and equips for the edification of the whole body and the furtherance of God's kingdom. (Acts 2:17, John 14:26, John 16:13, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16)

We believe that all men are sinners and sinful in nature since the fall of Adam. We believe that just one of God's laws, if violated, is enough to justly condemn a man to Hell and that all men have violated God's laws. Therefore Man will never achieve righteousness or eternal life based on his own good works. We further believe that God in his mercy extends unmerited love toward man so that by faith we can be saved from the fate we deserve. And that if we confess Jesus as Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead that we will be saved according to God's Word and promises. (Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, James 2:10, Ephesians 2:8-10)
